What is MassHealth?
MassHealth is a public health insurance program for low and medium-income residents of Massachusetts. MassHealth is the name used in Massachusetts for Medicaid and the State Children's Health Insurance Plan (SCHIP), combined in one program.
Am I eligible?
To be eligible for MassHealth, you must be a low to medium-income resident of Massachusetts and meet general eligibility requirements and financial eligibility requirements. Each coverage type has its own eligibility requirements. The requirements differ depending on age, family situation, work history, immigration status, and health care needs.
The MassHealth Eligibility Check on MassResources.org is an easy way for you to find out if you are likely to qualify for MassHealth benefits, by answering questions online about your family, your living situation, your job status, and your income. You will see the results of the eligibility check right away, on your computer screen.
What benefits will I get?
MassHealth pays for all or some of a member’s health insurance and health care services. MassHealth benefits depend on the type of coverage you have. MassHealth Standard and CommonHealth offer the most benefits. MassHealth Limited only covers emergency health services. When you apply for MassHealth, you will be given the most complete coverage for which you qualify.

How do I apply?
To apply for MassHealth, you should call the MassHealth Enrollment Center at 1-888-665-9993 or download an application from the MassHealth Applications page. You can also apply at the Family Health Center (508-860-7700) or the Great Brook Valley Health Center (508-852-1805) in Worcester. MassHealth offers several coverage types. Each coverage type has its own benefits, costs, and eligibility requirements. MassHealth Standard and CommonHealth offer the most benefits. Other coverage types are Family Assistance, Basic, Limited, Pre-Natal, Essential, and Medicare Buy-In.
Targeted MassHealth Programs
MassHealth has a number of special programs for people with certain medical conditions or in certain target groups. These programs have separate eligibility requirements and may offer benefits in addition to MassHealth insurance coverage. Targeted MassHealth programs include the Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Program, Group Adult Foster Care, the Kaileigh Mulligan Home Care Program, and Senior Care Options.
