Legal Help for Immigrants
What is legal help for immigrants?
Several organizations in Worcester offer low-cost or free legal services for immigrants and other noncitizens. These organizations help with a wide range of immigration issues such as applications for green cards and citizenship, deportation proceedings, family-based visa petitions, and work authorizations.
Am I eligible?
Many agencies give legal services to all immigrants and noncitizens in need of help, without any specific eligibility requirements. For Legal Services Programs, however, you must be low income, on Medicare, or elderly.
What benefits will I get?
Some agencies have full or part-time attorneys to help with immigration issues. Other agencies have staff trained to help with immigration issues, but do not offer direct legal services. Staff members usually speak several different languages, depending on the agency and the population it serves.
Services are usually free or low cost.
