Teen parents are eligible for DTA child care vouchers or slots if they are receiving TAFDC and meet the school attendance requirements. Teens in special situations who receive TAFDC for their children but are not eligible for TAFDC themselves also qualify.
These child care subsidies are for teen parents who do not want to apply for TAFDC or are not eligible for TAFDC because their parents will not provide income information. The teens must be under 18, living at home, and attending school or a GED program full time.
This program offers child care, counseling, and many family support services to teen parents and pregnant teens through age 19. Teen parents must be in high school or an approved education or work activity.
This program, offered at Burncoat and South High Schools, encourages teen parents to complete high school by offering free on-site child care and support services. Child care is available for infants and toddlers age 3 months to 2.9 years.
SAM is a program for pregnant teens working towards a high school diploma at the Gerald Creamer Center alternative high school in Worcester. Health and parenthood classes, counseling, and support services are included. After birth of the baby, free child care is provided on site. Young mothers not in SAM who are attending other public high schools in Worcester may also receive free child care at the SAM Infant and Toddler center.
